Before your set out on your weight loss journey, it’s best to approach it from a  place where your efforts will be maximized. What I mean by this is, say for example you enter the metaphorical doorway, you set your intention to “lose 40 pounds,” you either start a diet, or an exercise regimen, or you do your own thing. Do you want to set yourself up for failure or success?

You’re probably thinking, “Success, of course!”  Well great, you have a positive intention. But what happens to so many people when they start out on this journey is that they haven’t set the foundation. Their inner vibration is not in alignment with their desire of losing, or in my world, releasing weight. So the foundation ends up being cracked, or wobbly, or completely broken and dilapidated.

The most effective way to set the foundation for success is to get into the Zone from the starting gate! You may be familiar with the works of Abraham-Hicks; they call this place the Vortex.

My Cats Have Negative Eating Habits Too

My Cats Have Negative Eating Habits Too

my cats have negative eating habits tooDo you ever take stock of your negative eating habits?  There are about 18-20 most common ones, but the few I am going to talk about today are the ones that my cats deal with every day!

First, let me introduce you to my 3 cats.  There’s Booster, the big alpha male cat and his spouse Remy.  Booster is quiet but he walks with determination, and his body language shouts “I am the alpha male and you will love me, adore me, or at the very least, obey me!”  Remy on the other hand is quite talkative and is a lover not a fighter, she is about the most laid back, sweet natured cat there is.  Although she has a bit of the inquiring mind syndrome. If she could read she would subscribe to The National Enquirer. Booster and Remy have joined our household last year, they were welcomed with open (human) arms but not feline arms.  Which brings me to Suki, the cute little black and white Tuxedo who we have had since she was a kitten.  She was not very pleased with us when we rescued Booster and Remy.  To this day, she still hisses at them, although she is a bit moody and some days she actually tolerates Remy, her relationship with Booster, is an entirely different story.  They fight like and cats and cats!  Booster is more than twice Suki’s size, but she still provokes him every chance she gets.  I think secretly she enjoys the drama…oh but that’s another blog! read more

The Scale: Friend or Foe?

The Scale: Friend or Foe?

The dreaded bathroom scale can be our friend or it can be our enemy!  It depends on how you use it.

Telstar Logistics / Foter / CC BY-NC

So let’s just say for example, in Case Study 1:  You don’t get on the scale for a while, but you notice your clothes aren’t fitting quite like they used to.  If you reacted the same way I used to, you would steer clear from that thing, not coming the least bit close to it for fear of it biting off your big toe or something worse…actually finding out you gained fifteen pounds since the last time you visited it.

I would be so terrified of the scale that I avoided it at all cost.  That was a huge mistake. By ignoring the ultimate reality, I only ended up gaining more and more weight until I couldn’t avoid the scale anymore.  Judgement day would eventually arrive and I would have to get my yearly female physical, and that included stepping on the scale. Dear God, perhaps my clothing weighed 12 pounds. Yea, those jeans I wear are pretty heavy.

Case Study 1:  Scale= Your Friend

Are you ready for Case Study 2?  Well, here we go,  in this example you are being very conscious of your eating and your exercising, and your goal is to release some weight.  Do you find yourself on the scale three times a day?  Do you find yourself weighing in the morning, going to the gym, coming home and weighing again?  Do you obsess over every ounce? Do you find yourself magnetically drawn to that mood maker on the bathroom floor?  Does the number on the scale affect your happiness level?

If you answered yes to those questions then the results are in: read more

Love and Forgiveness

Love and Forgiveness

You may ask yourself how love and forgiveness have anything to do with weight loss.  Well, if you consider weight loss as pertaining only to the physical body, I can see the thought process behind that.  However, remember weight loss, or more appropriately weight release, is more about YOU the WHOLE being, not just the body.forgiveness and love

When we hang on to any negative energy, it builds up in every tissue of our body, it takes hold in our energy centers and creates dis-ease, which can lead to disease.  When we forgive others or ourselves, we do it for us, not for the other person.  When we are brave enough to forgive, we are sending a very loud signal to ourselves that we place love above hatred, resentment, and anger. By doing this we are sending powerful messages of love to the Universe and ourselves.

Let’s clarify some things – we are not condoning the actions of another person, we are simply forgiving the person. You don’t have to call up the person to tell them you forgive them, this is all done privately within your own heart, mind, and soul.  Forgiveness is a form of release.  You are releasing the toxic emotions associated with your relationship, memory, or feeling for that person. Sending it on it’s way, clearing the way to fill your heart with love and respect for yourself.  You are healing!  When you heal and release toxic energies, you are lightening up.  When you lighten up, your body functions better. When you lighten up, many of your food obsessions begin to disappear.

After we work on forgiving others, it’s time to seek to forgive ourselves. This may actually feel more difficult than forgiving others, but when you finally take the time and effort to work through the process, you will create such a powerful energy shift within you that you will create ripples of healing and positive energy in your world.  Remember – your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.

Forgiveness = Love.  Love is the opposite of fear. Fear is ego based, love is spirit based. Coming from Spirit is the most powerful perspective to tackle any challenge or obstacle, including your weight loss goals.

Mindful Eating

Mindful Eating

Mindful eating is very similar to intuitive eating.  Intuitive eating is a broader philosophy, according to the Evelyn Tribole, and Elyse Resch, author’s of the Book  Intuitive Eating . “It includes physical activity for the sake of feeling good, rejecting the dieting mentality, using nutrition information without judgment, and respecting your body, regardless of how you feel about its shape.”   Whereby mindful eating, which is a component of intuitive eating, is a process of purposefully paying attention to the eating experience, not judging yourself in the process.

I have recently adopted the Intuitive eating lifestyle as well as totally embracing mindful eating.  Last night I made homemade pizza. Knowing full well that the body’s digestion is the strongest during mid day, I still chose to make the pizza for our evening meal.  Our read more
